Dr. Sanjay did his early medical schooling in Government Medical College, Cuttack and then went on to obtain his Masters degree in orthopedics from the prestigious government institute – GMC NAGPUR through all India ranking.
During his tenure, he was a bright student with various national and international level paper presentations and won accolades. He represented his college in National Level Spine Quiz Contest and won 1st prize. Apart from this, he has won many state level quiz contests. During his residency days, he was part of a arthroscopic workshop held in his institute mentored by Professor Dr. Jai-Chul-Yu from South Korea, which imbibed in him the urge to choose arthroscopy as his speciality.
Post MS Orthopedics, he went to the prestigious Seth GS College and KEM Hospital Mumbai where he was trained under Prof. Dr. Roshan Wade and Prof. Dr. Mohan Desai. Dr. Roshan wade is a renowned arthroscopic surgeon of international repute, who has operated many celebrities.

Dr. Barik underwent vigorous training under the aegis of Shito-Riu in kick-boxing and Martial Arts, was awarded the coveted black belt for the same during his early years. During his training in Mumbai, he was a part of an International Mixed Martial Arts Fighting Competition held in NCS, Worli, Mumbai as a sports medicine doctor, which was adjudged by “The Great MIKE TYSON”. Being an avid sports fan and an athlete himself, triggered his passion to pursue sports medicine abroad.
To further sharpen his skills in knee arthroscopy and sports medicine, he went to Bologna Italy under Prof. Dr. Alessandro Leili, who is an arthroscopy surgeon of international repute with many renowned surgeons in the world as his trainee. Prof. Leili is known throughout the world for his famous Leili’s test in ACL deficient knee. He is official surgeon of Italy’s national basketball team. Dr. Barik had the firsthand experience of treating high performance international athletes and their post-op rehabilitation under his guidance.
He then went to South Korea for his exclusive training in shoulder surgery under Prof. Dr. Sang-Jin-Shin in the prestigious EHWA University, Seoul. There he took training for computer navigation shoulder arthroplasty and shoulder arthroscopy. He participated in Korean orthopedic Association Clinical Meets and presented paper. He was also trained for USG guided injection techniques for various shoulder pathologies, along with use of orthobiologics.
On returning to India, he utilized his international exposure in treating indian patients in GMC latur where he was serving as an assistant professor for 2 years.he improvised the techniques to suit low economy group atheletes without compromising on quality of patient care.
Dr barik had the opportunity to train under prof Robert laprade and prof Tim spalding from USA during their india visit in Goa. Prof laprade is world known renowned complex knee surgeon affiliated to international atheletes of USA.Under his biolab skills workshop dr barik had the hands on experience of complex knee injuries like PLC and PMC.
Dr sanjay is currently working as a visiting senior arthoscopic consultant in MGIMS sevagram,and attached to various multispeciality hospitals in Nagpur for arthroscopic surgery.
